Warm Up Exercises

By Aldrich alfred at 2011-01-12 23:43:58
Preparation is the key. Warm up exercises prepare you for your workout, help improve performance and prevent injury. A good warm up is the introduction to your activity. The actual activity being the main body, cool down is the conclusion. Your workout isn't complete if any of these are missing.

Vocal warm up exercises help to increase the blood flow to the voice producing muscles. You should start with some relaxation exercises to get your self in a physical and mental condition to start the session. This should be followed by breathing exercises, vocal strength improvement exercises and pitch exercises.

Short sharp exhaling: This is the first of the 3 voice warm up exercises that I perform. Just like it sounds this exercise includes sharply exhaling through the mouth in short bursts. Imagine you're at the library and somebody is really making far too much noise. Picture yourself Shushing them as loud as you can. SHHHHHH! You want it to be loud and clear but the difference here is you also want it to be short.

Drumming at times can be a bit strenuous, though you will be able to play for hours when keeping the body relaxed. Without performing warm-up exercises before playing, the body can become tense and show signs of fatigue within a short while. We will explore exercises that are quick and easy encompassing the whole body from head to toe.

A dynamic workout should be tailored specifically to the sport activity or workout that you're about to do. For instance, a rower will focus on exercises for his or her upper body while a runner will make sure to get the heels and ankles, and calves warmed up and ready for the jog ahead.

Soaking in warm water helps you to relax, increases the circulation and helps loosening up tightened muscles; it also helps speeding up the healing process. It returns some mobility to you, since the warmth makes the muscles more pliable. It is a good idea to soak in warm water for a while before starting to exercise (don't go too long, so your body won't overheat).

It has been well documented and accepted by specialists in sports medicine that dynamic stretching is preferable to static stretching prior to commencing sporting activities. The dynamic stretches conducted prior to commencing tai chi practice are also a wonderful way to improve overall fitness and may assist with the ease of performing activities necessary for everyday living.
